INFORMATION ABOUT ROAD CLOSURES AND POSSIBLE DELAYS

The Lincoln Grand Prix cycle race is set to take place on Sunday 11th May.  We hope that the residents of Lincoln will be able to take some time to enjoy the spectacle of 300 of the best cyclists in the UK battle for victory in what is one of the biggest races in Britain.

However, we understand that restrictions to highway access can cause some inconvenience which we are working hard to minimise.

The race operates mainly on a “rolling road closure” meaning that the road is closed each lap whilst the cyclist and support vehicles pass.  This takes in the region of 8 – 10 minutes and it’s known as the “race bubble”.

Once the race bubble has passed, the majority of roads will be opened up to allow the public to continue their journeys.  However, there will be a full closure of some roads as listed below.  In addition, a one-way operation will be in place for some of the course also noted below.

Timings:  The Women's race will start from Castle Square at 9am and complete eight laps of the circuit to finish at around 11.45am. The Men's race will start at 1pm and complete 13 laps to finish at around 4.45 pm.

Parking restrictions will apply in some areas from 4pm on Saturday, May 10th.   Please do adhere to these as you may be given a Parking Ticket if you park on the Roads affected.  Vehicles deemed to be parked in a permanent or temporarily no parking area, or in a hazardous position will present a danger to the competitors and may be moved by our Vehicle Removal Contractors.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that the races may cause.  The safety of the competitors and the public is paramount to events of this status which bring a lot of interest and publicity to the city and generates hundreds of thousands of pounds for the City of Lincoln economy.
